Urban Street Project 2024: Building Homes and Hope in Wausau
This summer, the 4th annual Urban Street Project successfully wrapped up, marking another incredible milestone in community-driven charity work. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of 25 generous local contractors and partners who provided volunteers and donations of materials, a brand-new home was built in Wausau, Wisconsin. This home, located at 4412 Rib River Trail, is a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom bi-level property spanning 1,642 square feet. It’s currently listed at $379,000.
The most remarkable aspect of this project is its purpose: all proceeds from the sale of this home will go directly to Bridge Street Mission’s Sober Living Center. This funding will support the renovation of their new facility at 329 N 1st Avenue in Wausau. The Men’s Recovery Center, already a cornerstone of support for men battling addiction, is now expanding to include services for women. The center plays a crucial role in helping individuals maintain sobriety, build healthy relationships, secure stable housing, and grow in their faith with Christ.
A Legacy of Giving
Since its inception, the Urban Street Project has been about more than just building homes—it’s about building a stronger community. In previous years, the project has raised as much as $160,000, which has been instrumental in reducing debt and funding the operations of Bridge Street Mission’s programs. This year’s home sale is expected to continue this legacy, making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.
About Bridge Street Mission
Bridge Street Mission has deep roots in the Wausau community. It began in 2015 when the Tappe family took action to address local homelessness by providing food to those in need. By 2016, the mission had evolved into an outreach center, and it became an incorporated church that same year. In 2019, Bridge Street Mission achieved 501(c)(3) status, solidifying its commitment to serving the community.
Bridge Street Mission is more than just a charity—it’s a beacon of hope for individuals seeking to rebuild their lives. The expansion of the Sober Living Center to include women’s services is a significant step forward in their mission to support the entire community.
